History of Rajasthani Association Tamilnadu At a Glance

ESTABLISHMENT OF RAJASTHANI ASSOCIATION TAMILNADU (RAJAT)

We, the Rajasthani people of Tamilnadu conscious of the need for adequate civic and leadership training of the people; to enable them to exercise decisive influence for the just solution of the problem of its members and of general public and with a view to promote cordiality, understanding and goodwill among all sections of the people and to uphold justice, social, political and economic condition in the day to day life of the people. The Rajasthani Community in Tamilnadu is identified totally itself with the people of Tamilnadu and thereby contributing to work in the field of Education, Medical Relief and for up liftment of poor and needy people. The founders who contributed to the formation of this Association are Shri. G.P.Shah, Shri. Heerachand Shiyal, Shri. Sundarlal Nahata, Shri. K.C.Toshniwal, Shri. Shankarlal Srisrimal, Shri. Manackchand Jain, Shri. Balkishan Goenka, Shri. C.L.Mehta etc,.

INAUGURATION OF RAJASTHANI ASSOCIATION TAMILNADU

The Association was inaugurated on 03-11-1967 by Late Sri.C.N.ANNADURAI, the then Chief Minister of Tamilnadu. The Founder President was Shri. G.P.Shah and Founder Secretary was Shri. Heerachand Shiyal. In almost 50 years, the Association has been doing not only the assigned work of representing the Rajasthani’s voice to the Government of Tamilnadu in all the fields of activities, such as business, trade, commerce, cultural and social but also doing its best in Social Service activities too.

Few of the Highlights are :

AWARDS GIVEN TO MERITORIOUS RAJASTHANIS IN VARIOUS FIELDS

To recognize the services of members of Rajasthani Community dedicated to the social and in other fields, the Rajasthani Tamilnadu has instituted AWARDS viz “RAJASTHAN RATNA”, “RAJASTHAN SHREE” and “RAJASTHAN YUVA RATNA”. Rajasthan Ratna is being presented to a member of Rajasthani Community who has selflessly devoted and worked for more than 25 years in the field on Education, Medical, Industries and Social service. Rajasthan Shree is presented to the members of Rajasthani Community who has made outstanding contributions for more than 10 years in the field of Education, Social service, Medical services and irrespective of any period in the field of Industry, Traders & Culture. RAJASTHAN YUVA RATNA AWARD is being introduced from 2009-2010 onwards. This Award is been presented to the persons in any of the fields i.e Industry, Trade, Profession, Politics, Bureaucrat, Sports, Art, Music, Dance & Drama, Education, Literary Work or outstanding contribution for minimum period of 5 years continuously in the field of social service or in the field of Education or Medical to a Rajasthani Youth of age between 25 and 45 years. Both the Awards are given bi-annually. Besides the above awards, Rajasthanis who contributed their selfless services for the association have been honoured posthumously with “Rajasthan Bhushan” awards.

BHAGWAN MAHAVEER INTERNATIONAL RAJASTHANI RESIDENTIAL SCHOOL

The Association has created a trust in the name of “Rajasthani Educational Foundation Tamilnadu”. The Association has constructed an International Residential School in an area of nearly 10 acres at an estimated cost of Rs.10 Crores. For this project our Patron Member Shri. N.Sugalchand Jain and Family have gifted 10 acres of land and many donors have announced their contribution to the above trust. They are the Founder Hereditary Trustees of Rajasthani Educational Foundation Tamilnadu. The school is completed and inaugurated on 24th September 2017.Its having state of art Facility for students and running smoothly.

DAKSHIN RAJASTHANI POST MAGAZINE

The Rajasthani Association Tamilnadu is publishing a monthly news magazine “Dakshin Rajasthani Post” from the year 1972. The important events connected to Social, Religious organized by various Rajasthani Associations in Tamilnadu are published in this colourful magazine and its present circulation is more than 3000 copies per month.

DONATION AND PUBLIC RELIEF FUND FROM OUR ASSOCIATION

On 10-03-1992 about Rs. 7.11 Lakhs was donated to Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for the Rehabilitation of Sri Lanka Refugees & Karnataka Refugees. On 10-03-1992 about Rs.5.55 Lakhs was contributed to the Chief Minister’s Temple Renovation Fund. On 02-01-1997 Rs. 2.75 Lakhs donation was paid to Chennai Mayor’s Flood Relief Fund. On 28-07-1999 Rs.1 Lakh was contributed to Kargil Fund raised by Chief Minister of Tamilnadu. On 15-06-2000 a sum of Rs. 7.5 Lakhs was distributed in the Drought affected areas of Rajasthan. During February and June 2003 a sum of Rs16.83 Lakhs was distributed in drought affected areas of Rajasthan. On 02-01-2005 Rs.1 Lakh contribution cheque was handed over to Chief Minister of Tamilnadu towards Tsunami Relief Fund. On 28-03-2008 a sum of Rs.2.10 Lakhs has been donated to Cancer Institute, Adyar. Further, during the course of Natural calamities such as Fire, Flood, Tsunami, vardah cyclone, Chennai Floods the Rajasthani Association Tamilnadu supplied food packets, utensils to the victims. Association is always ready to reach during natural calamities be it Kashmir or Rajasthan.

EXHIBITIONS & MELA

Our Association had participated in the exhibition conducted at Thiruvanmiyur in 2007 for world peace. Various activities of our Association namely viz Award distribution, Scholarship distribution, Medical camps etc. have been displayed through banners and electronic media. It has also conducted Rajasthani Mela's and Exhibitions to exhibit the cultural heritage of Rajasthani.

FELICITATION OF V.I.P’S

Our Association have felicitated many political personalities like Thiru M.G.Ramchandran, former Chief Minister of Tamilnadu, Shri. Ashok Gehlot, former Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Smt. Prathiba Patel, former Governor of Rajasthan & is blessed by may dignitaries of top level. It also felicitates VIPs from Rajasthan coming to Tamilnadu.

FREE WATER BOOTH MAINTAINED BY OUR ASSOCIATION

Water booths have been established in various places that is schools, college, Hospitals, playgrounds and bus stands for the benefit of students and public. The above water booths supply purified water with cooling effect considering the weather at Chennai.

GANGAUR (WOMENS WING)

A women's wing named GANGAUR has been established on 21st March 2007. The aim of Gangaur is to develop fellowship, friendship among the Lady members and to render social service, cultural activities and rich heritage of Rajasthan helping senior citizen activities to the community in the best of its capacity. Quarterly Medical camps are conducted across Tamilnadu to detect cancer and other medical ailments among womens. Till nowaround 10000 plus ladies have been benefited under such cancer medical checkup camps.

MOHINIDEVI HIRACHAND NAHAR RAJASTHANI DHARMASALA

To help the poor cancer patients coming to Chennai for undergoing treatment in Cancer Institute at Adyar, from all over India. The Rajasthani Association Tamilnadu constructed a Dharmasala named it as Mohinidevi Hirachand Nahar Rajasthani Dharmasala in an area of 18,200 sq.ft in the place provided by Cancer Institute at a cost of nearly one crore then. The Dharmasala which has ground plus three floors accommodates around 100 patients with their attendants. Our Rajasthani Association is providing accommodation to more than 200 persons per day. Every year this association is looking after day to day building works, painting, plumbing works and distributing bed sheets alongwith pillows to the patients at Dharmashala. Free food section is being managed by Sri Matha Trust under the directions of Jagad Guru Sri.Sankarachaya of Kanchi Mutt. In this philanthropic cause our Association members are donating voluntarily apart from supplying rice and dhall regularly.

PLAYGROUND MAINTAINED BY OUR ASSOCIATION

A Corporation Play Ground in Sowcarpet area is being maintained by the Association for more than 40 years for the benefit of about 10,000 students from around 25 Schools for conducting Annual Sports day function, games etc,. Few sports club are also using the ground. Flood lights have also been provided in the Play Ground to conduct games in the night hours. A Watchman is kept to guard the Play Ground.

SCHOLARSHIP DISTRIBUTION TO NEEDY STUDENTS BY OUR ASSOCIATION

The distribution of Scholarship to the weaker sections irrespective of caste, creed, or religion was commenced during the year 1976 by raising Scholarship Endowment fund. It has been decided to grant Scholarship to the tune of lakhs and lakhs in each year to the students studying in Arts & Science colleges, Polytechnic Institutions and Para Medical institutions. Almost more than a crore is already been granted to the deserving students.

STATE COUNCIL DELEGATION WITH CO-OPERATION OF VARIOUS AFFILIATED ASSOCIATIONS

The Association is conducting State Council Meet twice a year i.e. one in Chennai and another one outside the city to address issues in the field of Education, Trade, Industry, Social Service, Development of women etc., for the benefit of Rajasthanis. In the State Council meets we meet people from different district to exchange our views for the development of the society.

UPLIFTMENT OF RAJASTHANI BUSINESS PEOPLE

The Rajasthani Business Directory has been released for the Rajasthani Business Community of Chennai and Business Directories are distributed to all the Sponsors, Members and Patron members of Rajasthani Association Tamilnadu and also to subscribers of Dakshin Rajasthani Post and various Associations of Chennai and other districts of Tamilnadu.
